When your user is browsing through your site and you’ve got an iPhone or iPad app to promote, it makes sense to show this at their screen. This is fairly unobtrusive and certainly better than a big pop up.
The problem with Apple’s version of this is it only works on Safari and iOS 6 and above.
The alternative that I’ve come across by Jason gives you a way of linking even when a user is using Chrome on their iPhone.
It’s a solution I’d like to implement on London Cyclist although, unfortunately, I won’t be able to do it now as you also need to make some updates to inside your app for this to work.
I’ve been making and promoting apps for three years now and I’m surprised I’ve not come across more of a mention of this in articles that talk about how to promote your app.
